Richard Raeburn has been Chief Executive of the ACT since 2002. Prior to joining the ACT, he was the lead treasury partner at KPMG for nine years and spent 20 years with international groups such as Rexam, Diageo and Prudential Securities.
A Fellow of the ACT since 1982, prior to taking the Chief Executive position Richard had also been involved with the ACT as a consultant directing the development of the ACT's respected education programme, where he introduced a major review of qualifications and an innovative e-learning programme. His review of the ACT’s governance led to substantial changes that now underpin the strong leadership team in place, working effectively together with Council to reinforce the ACT’s role as the world's leading treasury association.
Outside the ACT, Richard launched the Damilola Taylor Trust and is a non executive director and chairman of the audit committee of the Home Group, the UK’s second largest housing association. |

Richard is Deputy Chief Executive of The ACT. Before joining the ACT, Richard was the Group Treasurer of Cable and Wireless. He has also worked for ICI as Head of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications and at the Cookson Group as Head of Investor Relations and Treasury.
Richard has particular responsibility for the strategic development of the ACT’s qualifications, together with conferences, training, editorial and publishing – including The Treasurer magazine and The Treasurer’s Handbook. |

John is currently Policy and Technical Director. Previously he was Finance Director of the Global Confectionery division of Cadbury Schweppes plc and before that Director of Treasury at Cadbury Schweppes, responsible for Tax, Treasury, Corporate Finance (including M&A, project review and long-term planning), Property and Insurance.
John was Chairman of the Council of the ACT for 1991 and 1992, after chairing the ACT’s Education Committee for some years. Prior to joining Cadbury Schweppes, John had had senior financial roles with BICC plc and with BL plc. He has an MSc from London University and an MBA from Manchester and is a Chartered Secretary as well as a Fellow of the ACT. Corporate governance and business ethics are a particular interest. He lives near Cambridge where he is involved as a business angel with a number of early stage companies. |

As Director of Communications, Kate heads up the marketing function and is responsible for ensuring the ACT communicates effectively with its members and the wider financial community. Kate also co-ordinates activities with overseas national treasury and other relevant associations. The marketing department concentrates on education and publication marketing, PR and website content. On the education side, this involves promoting the AMCT Diploma, MCT Advanced Diploma and Certificates to potential and existing students worldwide, while on the publication side this involves increasing the awareness of The Treasurer magazine and The Treasurer's Handbook. In addition, the department is responsible for maintaining relationships with members of the press to increase the awareness of the treasury profession and to ensure that the ACT is the first port of call for information on treasury. Kate is a qualified Chartered Secretary and has an investor relations background, having worked for leading consultancy Makinson Cowell and the Investor Relations Society. She joined the ACT in 1998 as General Manager, was appointed Commercial Director in 2003 and became Director of Communications in 2006. |

Ria joined the ACT in 1993 although her involvement with us goes back further than that, initially as a member of the Grant Thornton audit team and then as a consultant.
Originally employed as the Finance Manager, Ria later took on the role of Company Secretary and in 1996 became General Manager. Following a period of maternity leave Ria returned for a short time as Finance Manager and then in 2000 was appointed Office Manager with responsibility for general office administration, HR and company secretarial duties, including the administration of all Council matters. In 2004 she was appointed Director of Membership and Administration. Ria is also Secretary to the Trustees of the ACT Educational Trust and oversees the membership and regional groups function. | |
