Case Study Profile: Tom Bollen

Tom Bollen
Assistant Vice President – Liquidity Management
Citi Capital Markets and Banking
Why AMCT?
I studied the ACT’s AMCT Diploma in Treasury (AMCT) because I was keen to understand the theory behind the practical aspects of my job. I had worked in banking for five years, but my knowledge was specialised to a few areas. AMCT gave me the opportunity to obtain a much broader knowledge base and improve my understanding of fields outside my normal work environment.
Understanding the bigger picture
AMCT has increased my understanding of the bigger picture of finance and given me greater confidence when dealing with senior management. I now have a good knowledge of a wide range of financial products, which is extremely useful. By broadening my financial understanding, I have become involved in higher profile projects which have led to greater recognition and an offer of a place on the CFO training program in New York.
Standing out from the crowd
Professional qualifications are particularly important when working in finance, as it is a fiercely competitive field. Qualifications such as AMCT demonstrate that you have skills up to a certain level and help differentiate you from your peers. They are a quantifiable achievement and a guarantee of your expertise now and for the future.
