There are mixed messages as to whether the relative lack of bank lending is due to reduced supply or reduced demand. The Bank of England’s Q3 Credit Conditions survey showed that demand for credit by private non-financial corporations had risen in line with expectations for medium-sized companies, but fallen slightly for larger companies.
