Purpose of Role

The London Treasury team in total is responsible for:

Defining banking group strategy and managing the relationship with our 10-14 relationship banks by coordinating credit rating relationships, driving the treasury agenda across the market companies and leading the Treasury response to cross-functional projects. Examples include business development, strategic tax projects and Pension fund support. This role is responsible for delivering the strategy and executional elements of Financial Dimensions laid out up above, within the designated spike area of ownership. The 7 spikes are Europe, Latam and NAM, Africa, Asia Pac, Group Liquidity, FX, Capital Structure).

The treasury manager should be capable of understanding economic, policy and projects across full Treasury bandwidth (FX, IR, cash, reporting), including accounting implications of all financial instruments used. In addition the ideal candidate must be capable of understanding all of the options offered by the banks in the cash management, business support and FX areas. Including the understanding on the Tax/Transfer price policies.

Leadership responsibilities

Ability to lead the functional agenda / strategy associated with specific projects across the Treasury team internally, tax, DBSC, regions and external relationships banks / rating agencies.

Credibly represent the treasury view, and influence senior leaders thinking to ensure the right Diageo First outcome.

Lead and Orchestrate Complex Project implementation across the various teams within and external to Diageo.

Qualifications and experience required

  • Ideally 5-10+ years finance experience
  • Treasury background
  • Degree, accountancy qualification and preferably ACT (can be done in role)
  • Strong commercial acumen, broad business perspective across multiple geographies
  • Excellent skills in communication of complex information simply such that senior leadership can rapidly engage and make good decisions
  • Ability to build strong relationships and partnership internally and externally
