Does it matter what order I sit the AMCT certificates in?

There are three stages to completing the AMCT Diploma:

Stage one – Certificate in Financial Fundamentals for Business

Complete the four CertFin modules (exemptions available) as follows:

  • Financial & Management Accounting
  • Economics & Statistical Analysis
  • Corporate Taxation
  • Business Law

Stage two – compulsory certificate

Complete one certificate, select from either:

  • International Treasury Management

Stage three – select two electives

Complete two further certificates from a choice of:

  • Risk Management
  • Corporate Finance & Funding
  • Financial Maths & Modelling
  • International Cash Management

You can start your studies at any stage but we strongly recommend you begin your AMCT studies with the stage one.

You should then move on to the stage two compulsory certificate and finish your studies by selecting two electives from stage three.

How many AMCT certificates do you recommend I should take at each exam sitting?

It depends on the individual, but we recommend you study one certificate at a time. This is especially recommended for the Certificate in Financial Fundamentals for Business, Certificate in International Treasury Management and the Certificate in International Cash Management.

However, if you feel you can dedicate sufficient study hours, then you may book on to as many certificates as you wish. At the enrolment stage you only need to book the certificates you intend to take at your first exam sitting. You will be able to book further certificates at a later date.

How long do I have to complete the AMCT qualification?

Sitting stages one, two and three: 7 years
Sitting stages two and three only: 5 years

Your first booked examination is the start date for your time limit even if you then choose to defer the examination.

How long do I have to complete a stand-alone certificate course?

Two years from your first booked examination.

Can I enrol for a certificate course now and the AMCT Diploma course later?

Yes, if you complete a certificate course and decide you want to go onto to complete the AMCT Diploma, the certificate paper you have passed will count as one of the four certificates you need to complete the AMCT Diploma.

If you are unsure whether you want to purse the AMCT Diploma at this stage, you can enrol for one or more certificate courses, and then transfer on to the AMCT Diploma.

If you have previously studied for a certificate and then decide to transfer on to the AMCT qualification, your time limit to complete AMCT Diploma will start from your first certificate exam entry date.

How do I find out more about the syllabus for the course I intend to take?

The syllabus is available on the course page under further information as a downloadable PDF.

When I enrol onto the Certificate in Financial Fundamentals for Business will I be entered to sit all four exams at the same exam sitting?

Yes, you have to book onto and pay for all four modules at the same time. Once you begin studying you can choose to defer one or more of these exams to the next sitting.
