The Deals of the Year Awards Panel will select a winner and one or more highly commended deal from the list of nominations for each of the above categories. Deals will be considered from the corporate treasury perspective – the basic criterion is that they show “excellence in corporate treasury”, as demonstrated by any or all of the following:
- Sound treasury management
- Efficient pricing
- Optimal or innovative structure
- Relative success in prevailing market conditions
The deal must involve a corporate with a UK or Continental European domicile in which the corporate treasury team played a significant role.
Only corporate deals are considered. Deals from non-corporates, such as supranational, agencies, municipals and financial institutions will NOT be considered. Deals may be in any currency.
Only deals completed between 1 January 2007 and 31 December 2007 qualify for consideration.
Please note that the Panel reserves the right to consider a deal in a different category from the one for which it was nominated.
Deals were nominated by members of the ACT, readers of The Treasurer magazine and the bankers and advisors involved in those deals.
The bankers and advisors provided detailed information about each nominated deal and why it should be considered as a potential Deal of the Year in its category.
All nominated deals were considered initially by a selection of panel members who then put forward a shortlist of deals to be considered by the full panel. The full panel then selected the winner and highly commended in each category.
Previous winners of the Deals of the Year Awards include: Arsenal FC, Bayer, Cadbury Schweppes, Croda, Invensys, Land Securities, NXP Semiconductors and Tesco.
