ACT Ones to Watch 2019: An evening of celebration

On Monday 25 November we celebrated the treasury leaders of tomorrow at our Ones to Watch awards ceremony which recognises upcoming stars in treasury.

Winners were selected by our expert panel for their achievements thus far, as well as their promise for the future. In addition, we congratulated some of our highest performing students from the two years.  Herbert Smith Freehills LLP kindly hosted this event at Exchange House, London.

Evaldas Balkys, Manager, Zanders

The judges said Evaldas showed great talent and promise for even greater achievements in his role as a consultant working with treasurers.

Jason Han, AVP- Liquidity and Banking, General Electric Corporate Treasury

Jason demonstrated a broad treasury experience including automating processes and the judges were particularly struck by our winner’s collaboration with other functions to drive efficiencies.

Colette Lawless, Senior Manager Corporate Treasury, AERCAP

The judges noted that Colette had made significant process improvements and had good experience in particular of emerging markets.

Kata Pasztor, Treasury Manager, Etihad Airways

Our winner has also been recognised this year for her achievements at the Middle East Treasury Awards and demonstrated excellence in her department.

Stephen Porter, VP Treasury and Insurance, Pearson

Stephen’s nomination left a great impression on the judges who also said that Stephen had ‘turbocharged’ his department

Alice Powell, Senior Manager - Treasury and Commodities Group, Price Waterhouse Coopers

Alice impressed the judging panel with her broad range of corporate treasury skills.

Sam Robinson, Deputy Treasurer, Hitachi Capital (UK) Plc.

The judges said that Sam shows excellent technical knowledge and is passing this on to others through training internally and through speaking at conferences.

Maciek Szafranski, European Regional Treasurer, General Mills.

The panel noted that Maciek’s range of treasury expertise put him in an excellent position to develop his career

Tian Song, Senior Bank Relations Manager, Baker Hughes

Our judges commended that Tian on her rapid journey in gaining and applying a wealth of treasury experience as well as studying.

Richard Spencer, Assistant Treasurer, Anglian Water.

Richard impressed the judges with his all-round knowledge of treasury and his role in Anglian Water’s work on green bonds and ESG.

Elina Todorova, Assistant Treasurer, Tideway.

Recognised internally with a well-deserved promotion, Elina is also training others as well as contributing to more strategic board decisions.

Louise Woodroffe, Group Treasury Manager, Burberry Group.

Our judges commended Louise, saying that her breadth of experience combined with steady progression and her commitment to studying and self-improvement makes her one to watch!
