Legal & General’s Group Treasury department have a requirement for an Assistant Manager who will be responsible for leading the relationship between the Group’s cash management operations, transactional banks, card service providers and BACS to ensure the smooth running of daily processes.

Job duties

  • Manage costs for transaction banking, card, and BACS services to ensure value for money for services
  • Co-ordinate any incident management to minimise impact of transaction banking failures and define key Business Continuity Planning for the Group’s cash management services
  • Assist the Markets Relationship Manager in the development of Bank Relationships to maximise reciprocal value add for L&G Group and to deliver regular and ad hoc analysis and reports on bank activity
  • Responsibility for the administration of the Group’s banking mandates liaising with business divisions and banking partners as required
  • Ensure all mandates updated on a regular basis and accurately reflect business requirements
  • Assist business units with any transaction banking or bank account requirements
  • Responsibility for maintaining record of bank accounts for all Group entities and for these to be reviewed on a semi-annual basis with appropriate governance and controls maintained for any new or closed bank accounts
  • Manage dormant and low balance accounts with the banks and operational areas to ensure underutilised accounts are closed
  • Analyse BACS reports and produce key MI and SLA guidelines for relevant business areas
  • Support the Financial Crime and Compliance teams to resolve any DD guarantee and fraud issues arising via BACS
  • Support BACS on projects they are running on internal change
  • Assist the Markets Relationship Manager in managing debt investors and credit rating agencies

Skills required

  • Degree (minimum 2:1) preferably in an analytical subject along with a further relevant professional qualification e.g. ACT, CFA or accountancy qualification or a willingness to study for one
  • Applicants with the ACT Award in Cash Management Fundamentals or Certificate in International Cash Management will be considered favourably
  • Strong working knowledge of cash management operations and transaction banking
  • Good knowledge of financial services
  • Excellent people /relationship management
  • Excellent networking skills, ability to build relationships quickly
  • Ability to self-manage and self-motivated
  • Strong multitasking skills and organisational skills
  • Ability to influence/advise senior management
  • Strong incident management skills
