The UK housing sector
The UK housing sector is dynamic and exciting workplace for both budding corporate treasurers and experienced treasury professionals. Housing associations (HAs) are generally highly geared and are major users of bank debt, long term capital markets and derivatives. The sector is going through a period of rapid consolidation, giving rise to a multitude of exciting opportunities for treasurers to gain front office experience across areas like debt restructuring, new fundraisings, interest rate risk management, and M&A. HAs are also commercialising and diversifying due to government funding and regulatory pressures, with the bigger HAs now emerging as key players in private rent and private sale markets, which is giving rise to interesting corporate finance structuring opportunities. Treasurers working in housing, which is currently at the top of the political agenda, are invariably extremely satisfied with their level of daily challenge, career reward and work life balance.
Our client, a London based housing association is recruiting an Interim Treasury & Financial Planning Manager to join its treasury function for a period of six months.
Working closely with the Finance Directors and other senior management, the Interim Treasury & Financial Planning Manager will be responsible for providing treasury and financial planning services across the organisation whilst developing and implementing treasury strategies to support the businesses corporate strategy and development programme. The Interim Treasury & Financial Planning Manager will be involved in planning and forecasting and will also provide leadership to a small team of treasury and finance analysts whilst ensuring key objectives are met.
This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to gain career-enhancing strategic and operational treasury exposure from within the social housing sector.
You will be ACT qualified and (ideally) a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with extensive operational treasury management experience.
You will have a strong track record of leading a similar size treasury team and managing a significant size debt portfolio. Experience of agreeing and reviewing loan documentation, hedging and covenants is also highly desirable for this role. You will also have experience in forecasting and delivering long range financial plans whilst reporting on financial performance.
Financial modelling is a key part of this role as is the ability to work with all levels of management. Whilst knowledge of the housing sector would be advantageous, candidates with the right treasury skill set from different industries are encouraged to apply.
This is an interim position that will run as a six-month fixed term contract. A good pro rata salary is on offer along with pro rata benefits for this post.
