My client, a leading media organisation, are recruiting for a Treasury Analyst who will be responsible for the treasury function. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the successful candidate will forecast the group’s cash on a daily and monthly basis. They will monitor cash performance against these forecasts to ensure that the group complies with its banking covenants and has funds available to meet its cash requirements. The right candidate will be keen to gain an in depth understanding of the cash flows of the business and how they relate to the group’s activities as a whole. They will apply this understanding to make sure their work is accurate and completed to a high standard.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for the administration of the company's loan facilities. They will arrange foreign currency exchanges as required and be the main contact for banking relationships. They will also review bank reconciliations prepared by other finance team members. The successful candidate will work independently to resolve queries through both external and internal contacts to make sure all work is completed within set deadlines.

Detailed job description

The key responsibilities of the Treasury Analyst include:

  • Reporting to and working closely with the Group Financial Controller
  • Preparation and maintenance of daily, monthly and budget cash forecasting
  • Day to day cash monitoring against forecast. Build a detailed knowledge of upcoming and regular payments and the cash flow patterns of the business. Identify the cause of any variances against forecast
  • Produce monthly cash flow reports to illustrate the cash position of the business
  • Produce quarterly reports and covenant calculations for our lending banks
  • Build a relationship with and produce reporting for the team based in Germany
  • Monitor and record interest costs and maintain clear and accurate records of payments made and future costs
  • Produce a currency forecast for the business and arrange foreign currency exchanges as required
  • General banking and loan administration including account opening and closure as required
  • Review of bank reconciliations
  • Reconciliation of intercompany balances
  • Reconciliation of other balance sheet accounts including capitalised loan arrangement costs and interest accrual
  • Preparation of monthly VAT Return. Gain a full understanding of VAT reporting requirements
  • Ad hoc treasury related work as required
  • Any other financial and analytical work as required to support the Group Finance Team

Candidate's profile

To be considered for the Treasury Analyst position you require:

  • Strong Excel skills, excellent data manipulation and analysis skills
  • Knowledge of financial systems (prior use of Access Dimensions) would be an advantage
  • Self-starter, able to work on own initiative
  • Previous treasury experience, including foreign exchange would be an advantage
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Capable of working to deadlines
  • Flexible to adapt and develop in a changing environment
  • Numerate, articulate, able to work constructively with colleagues across the business and at all levels
  • Strong commercial awareness to understand how financial data and reports relate to the business
  • Would suit someone studying for or interested in studying for an accountancy qualification such as ACCA
