Role Purpose
As a Risk Analyst, your primary responsibility is to discover, analyze, and provide insights into the complex financial market exposures of the business Group. This includes assessing the risk position of each business and the aggregate risk as a whole. You will collaborate closely with the Assistant Treasurer and Group Treasurer to develop and implement risk management plans and strategies. Additionally, you will actively monitor financial markets, providing sensitivity and ‘Value at Risk’ modeling and keeping the team informed of changing economic, currency, commodity, credit, and interest rate environments. Your contributions will be essential in supporting Treasury’s role as a valuable business partner to the Group.
Key Responsibilities
Markets:
Monitor and analyze changing economic, currency, commodity, credit, and interest rate environments relevant for the group.
Provide sensitivity and ‘Value at Risk’ modeling, offering insightful analysis to the Assistant Treasurer and Group Treasurer.
Stay updated on financial markets, regulations, and risk management strategies to enhance exposure management.
Conduct analysis of trends, correlations, and identify areas of risk and opportunities for the group.
Maintain strong relationships with banking partners.
Business Partnering:
Collaborate with the Assistant Treasurer and businesses to assess risks and develop risk management plans and strategies.
Support the businesses by providing risk reviews of their FX transaction requests through Group Treasury.
Review risk management derogation requests from the business Group
Participate in periodic business risk management committee meetings.
Assist in treasury projects related to M&A, Corporate Finance, and systems implementation.
Reporting:
Collate, interpret, and aggregate exposures across commodities, FX, interest rate, and credit risk from the business Group.
Lead the production of periodic risk management reports, including quarterly risk management committee reporting and weekly markets reporting.
Support the Assistant Treasurer with treasury annual financial accounts review and disclosure requirements.
Review periodic financial reporting packs, derivative positions, and FX volatility for the business Group.
Prepare ad hoc reports for Head Office treasury and finance teams.
Controls:
Maintain risk management policy documents related to foreign currency, commodities, and hedging strategies in line with the wider group’s Financial Controls Framework.
Ensure compliance with treasury policy for both central and business unit activities.
Operations:
Provide first-line holiday and sickness cover for Treasury Front Office.
Execute dealing requirements with Group relationship banks, optimizing pricing and operational effectiveness.
Manage group liquidity requirements and ensure efficient utilization of surplus funds.
Support the development and testing of business continuity procedures for treasury operations.
Systems:
Assist in the development and extension of the treasury management system (TMS) capabilities across the business Group, including version upgrades and releases.
Identify tools and technology to centralize market information, group exposures, and position reporting.
The Candidate
Degree level education with a focus on finance, accounting, or a related field.
Highly numerate and analytical, with a strong ability to interpret financial data and conduct complex financial analyses.
Qualified Associate/Member of Corporate Treasurers Association or actively working towards this certification.
Substantial finance experience within large international businesses, particularly within the Group Treasury Function.
Proficient understanding of accounting standards relevant to Treasury operations.
Sound knowledge of Banking, Capital Markets, and treasury-related taxation matters.
Familiarity with corporate risk management techniques and financial products.
Excellent interpersonal skills, enabling effective communication with businesses, banks, and internal teams within the head office.
