An active private placement market exists in the USA and in Germany and it would assist UK business, especially mid-sized companies were an equivalent market to exist in the UK
The working group found that there are numerous barriers to a PP market developing, many of them just being behavioural perceptions, with the most significant hard barrier being the regulatory treatment of PP investments in the hands of insurance companies. We believe that by challenging investors and regulators, and with a big push from interested parties the barriers can be overcome, but this process, and bringing the investors alongside will take time.
