Save the Children is the world’s leading independent child rights organisation, operating as a federation of 29 member organisations across more than 100 countries, working together to protect and improve the lives of children globally.
My role sits within the FX and risk team in Save the Children International’s treasury back office, supporting global treasury operations through FX reporting, analysis, and risk management, while also leading aspects of the hedging programmes. We work across five regions – Asia, Latin America, two African regions and the Middle East and Eastern Europe region– managing liquidity, mitigating FX risks and enabling our implementing offices to operate efficiently and securely.

I have more than 15 years’ experience as a dedicated senior finance manager in the humanitarian sector and I am committed to improving children’s lives. In 2022, I served as deputy finance director for Save the Children International in Ukraine, joining the office just three months after the conflict began.
In my previous roles, I had the opportunity to collaborate with the Save the Children treasury team, particularly in Kyiv, where I was part of the emergency support group. The treasury team played a critical role in ensuring timely access to funds in the right currency, protecting donor funds from FX exposure, and supporting operational challenges with in-country banking.
While my background is in finance, I have developed a strong interest in all aspects of treasury, especially FX management, which inspired me to apply for the role I hold today.
Save the Children aims to reach every last child, wherever they are, which means many of our programmes operate in some of the world’s most challenging environments, with around three-quarters located in high- or extreme-risk countries. From a treasury perspective, we are highly focused on quantifying and managing FX risk arising from operations in these locations.
In my role, I ensure the treasury function remains resilient by maintaining robust FX reporting and analysis, and by proactively managing FX risk related to donor funds. We use a dedicated FX risk management system to closely monitor currency fluctuations and FX risk, enabling immediate action in the event of devaluations or significant FX movements and allowing us to protect donor funds and maximise their value to benefit more children.
I also collaborate with Save the Children’s external FX consultant on hedging strategy and work closely with implementing offices, establishing clear processes to respond quickly to unexpected challenges.
I am hugely grateful to Save the Children for the opportunity to be part of, and to develop, within a professional multi-award-winning treasury team. I am determined to grow, learn and contribute
Personally, I maintain resilience by staying organised, prioritising key tasks and continuously expanding my knowledge of emerging FX risks and treasury strategies.
I come from Kosovo, a small country where opportunities historically have often been limited, and where fields like treasury are less commonly found outside of the financial services sector. I am hugely grateful to Save the Children for the opportunity to be part of, and to develop, within a professional multi-award-winning treasury team. I am determined to grow, learn and contribute.
Looking ahead, I see my role evolving into a more strategic position in managing FX risk and supporting decision-making at a higher level. I am pursuing the ACT professional treasury qualification (CertT), a key step in my journey that is not only expanding my technical knowledge, but also helping me connect theory with the real-world challenges I face every day.
I am passionate about applying this knowledge in practice to improve efficiency across our implementing offices and support colleagues, enabling them to dedicate more time and resources to what truly matters, helping those disadvantaged children who so desperately need our help.
