The International Finance Corporation is exploring ways to use weather derivatives to offset developing economies’ GDP fluctuations. If confirmed, the move by the private sector arm of the World Bank could broaden the international focus on weather derivatives and improve liquidity, as well as help market-makers diversify their weather portfolios.
