Agenda | Tomorrow’s Treasury: The Crucial Conversations Conference

Times are uncertain and volatile with the demands on the treasurer becoming more complex.

Boards are relying on their treasurers to be across a wide range of topics, from supply chains, to the use of artificial intelligence, from funding sources to net zero: many of which are, and will revolutionise, treasury and finance. Treasurers need to be more agile than ever in these times. The Tomorrow's Treasury: Critical Conversations Conference will focus on what treasurers are and can do now in three key areas of technology, sustainability, and talent.

The event will combine detailed insights and practical takeaways of what treasurers need to know to truly understand what is happening and what is possible today, going beyond the general blue-sky thinking discussions that often characterise these subjects.

The rise of artificial intelligence, and especially generative AI, is dominating news coverage from within and beyond the treasury community, with every system vendor announcing new use cases for AI. But what is really going on and how are treasurers currently using AI to solve their real treasury challenges – and what is just noise?

Everybody knows of bitcoin, but the world of tokenised assets is far broader, with stablecoins or similar potentially transforming what money is and how it’s used in the near future. What is happening here and how will digital assets help today’s treasurer?

The new administration in the US has accelerated a change in sentiment towards ESG but especially in the area of sustainable finance, activity continues apace especially in other regions such as Europe and the Middle East. There are new products and opportunities for treasurers to both support their businesses in the net-zero transition as well as diversify sources of finance. At the heart of treasury are its people and when looking at areas that will re-shape the treasury department in the coming years, it’s important that treasurers have the requisite skills and that teams are structured appropriately to tackle the challenges and embrace the opportunities going forward.

There has been a trend in recent years that is only accelerating: the move away from public to private markets. How is this affecting a treasurer’s funding options? This is not an event that aims to cover all of the challenges that a treasurer faces but will focus on key areas of disruption in depth, to help treasurers plan for 2026 and beyond.

Data and AI

This hands-on session will demonstrate practical use cases that show how AI can help treasurers make the most of various types of data, including text files, numerical tables, and time series.

It will provide a practical guide to integrating these solutions into a treasurer's existing IT landscape, and show how even relatively small efforts can lead to significant process improvements. At the same time, the session will critically examine the limitations of these models and highlight the importance of understanding their potential shortcomings.

Resilient planning: where is the next crisis?

The next crisis isn’t a question of if, it’s a question of when. Will it be a financial meltdown that wipes out markets overnight? A cyber-attack that paralyses global infrastructure? Another pandemic that reshapes society? An AI bubble bursting, leaving chaos in its wake? In a world where uncertainty is the only certainty, what should you fear most and how do you prepare before it’s too late?
