Successful commodity risk management

In the world of commodities, where fundamental supply issues compete with macro-economics and geo-political uncertainty for supremacy and markets are often volatile, managing commodity price risk can be a daunting challenge.

This ACT webinar discussed a number of topical issues faced in the design of appropriate risk management strategies and their execution. The session looked at how the overall business drivers and objectives should mould hedging strategy, and what market factors may be used to help effective execution.

Topics included:

  • core considerations in setting strategy
  • importance of discipline in execution
  • reacting to the market
  • understanding forward market behaviour
  • commodities in non-USD – hedge together or separately?
  • complacency in non-volatile markets
