When students have that light bulb moment. The CertICM is a demanding syllabus and some content can prove quite challenging. The tuition school focuses on these areas in the hope that at the end of the week students not only understand all the covered topics but also feel confident going into the exam.
No student left behind. If there is anything at all I can do to help a student comprehend the material I will do it. That includes adding extra coaching sessions at the school for those who feel they need more time on some topics and providing answers that are as complete answers as possible on the discussion forum. I also think learning is easier with a little humour thrown in!
I am a refugee from the banking world. But after a few decades of mergers, turnover and turmoil I decided I was more suited to the entrepreneurial life style rather than being an employee. I think my past bosses would agree with that and in fact my ex-employers became my first clients. I have never been happier. I now have the best boss I have ever had and the help does everything exactly as I would have done it!
There have been a couple of tuition schools that have achieved 100% pass rate. Now that’s memorable.
I am an international cash and liquidity junkie. Making money work more efficiently, helping companies around the world set up efficient structures, seeing the innovative solutions banks are developing - that turns me on. I know, I need to get a life!
From my perspective I would say it is seeing China come into the international liquidity fold, giving companies greater freedom to manage global cash. My European colleagues would probably be more focused on the SEPA implementation and the future of the region.
Not so much essentials as rules to live and travel by:
Undeniably it is attention deficit. Students no longer have the luxury of devoting themselves to the task in hand. Whether real or self-inflicted there seems to be an urgent need to continue doing your regular job while trying to study, and as a result you probably do neither very well. It’s also very frustrating to the tutors to see half the class with their heads down checking and responding to emails – then asking a question on a topic you have just covered. Pet peeve I’m afraid!
At the risk of sounding ridiculous, I’m afraid I’m a bit of a sucker for Bradley Cooper (I also like George Clooney but he wasn’t nominated this year!). We had actually viewed American Hustler the night before the Golden Globes and so it was still very fresh in our minds.
More of a wine drinker than a connoisseur really! My favourite is the wine my husband makes with grapes from our vineyard – Windrock Estates Viognier (a white Côte du Rhone variety). My website has photos of the vineyard and some of the other wines made from the property.
