I have spent my career in banking to date, starting at Barclays on their Graduate Program, before going into Leveraged Finance and then as a front line Corporate Banker.
Do it. It’s a big time commitment, but it helps you understand corporate finance and treasury from a client’s perspective with a strong theoretical and practical application. Really worthwhile.

Evolving shareholder return expectations and allocating/raising capital accordingly will be an important challenge. I would also say the FX and interest rate risk management environment will become more of a focus.
We were fortunate to have the Bank of England Agent come and speak at the event – I always find his talks informative. Getting good speakers to our events is important to our members as is providing an opportunity to catch up and network. I feel the quality of the treasurer network regionally is strong and I look forward to doing more events next year.
It shows we are committed to the UK regions and show our appreciation of treasury professionals around the whole of UK plc. Personally, I also think it is good to develop a local network.
I have had a lot, but generally whenever I’ve given good advice to clients or completed deals that have been important to them, I get a great sense of satisfaction.
Get a reputation for reliability.
