Celebrating Success – 2012 ACT Prize Winners

It’s a huge honour winning the mct prize and to be named the act’s student of the year, especially in such a momentous year for the association following the award of its royal charter. It’s a great privilege to count myself as part of such a respected group of professionals, although of course, you only learn to drive after you’ve passed your test!

My job involves working very closely with the Treasury teams of major corporates and my ACT studies have hugely aided this, giving me a better understanding of the issues they face and allowing me to have more meaningful conversations in relation to banking products I provide.

The AMCT diploma and each component module combine useful technical skills with practical learning; adding value to my current role and enhancing my future prospects. It has improved my understanding of our corporate clients and developed my insight into the corporate - bank relationship, particularly from the perspective of the treasurer.

As a recent graduate, immersing myself straight into a treasury role, I enrolled onto the AMCT qualification as I wanted to build a strong technical knowledge base which I could apply into my role and add value.

The CertFin Corporate Tax exam was very useful as it provided a fundamental knowledge of the UK and internal taxation regimes, important aspects to consider for any treasury professional.

An ACT qualification is seen as the benchmark of treasury expertise, possessing the AMCT is highly marketable in the job market. I strongly recommend pursuing an ACT qualification.

I thoroughly enjoyed studying for Cert ITM as it gave me a great taster of the core components of a modern corporate treasury. This has led me on to further studies with the ACT on areas that interest me and are relevant for my day-to-day work. This course will definitely help those who want to understand corporate treasuries better or those who want to start working in a corporate treasury.

Even after some years of experience in Treasury CertRM showed me Risk Management from another angle allowing me to get a better understanding for Risk Management processes and drivers in a global Group. ACT improved my Treasury skills further and is an excellent basis for everybody who wants to take a profession in Treasury. The international footprint of the program makes it valuable for national, international and global companies. I really enjoyed CertRM and it improved my personal Treasury skills and career options simultaneously. CertRM is a very good choice to broaden your view for Risk Management issues.

The ACT qualification has improved my knowledge and skills. It has allowed me to approach challenges and projects in new ways with confidence.

ACT Fast Track was a good investment for me. I think ACT goes beyond the ‘core treasury’ topic, as it provides a full suite of financial decision making tools that support finance management career in any company – I am now a more rounded financial professional as I better understand the theory and practice of everything from FX/credit risk to value management. I also believe ACT’s brand and international reputation will further my opportunities in and outside of my current career path – I have already become connected with people around the world through career/networking sites and events.
