Stuart Siddall, Chief Executive of the ACT, said:
The value of good treasury management has never been more important. In the past 12 months treasurers have had to demonstrate innovation and skill, combined with strong banking relationships, to achieve the deals we have recognised today. Strong treasury management is essential and will be a key part of corporate success in these difficult markets. In particular, we encourage smaller companies without access to a dedicated treasury function to use ACT training and qualifications to develop their treasury skills which could be the key to survival. Stuart Siddall, ACT

2008 marked the eleventh anniversary of the prestigious Deals of the Year Awards organised by The Treasurer, the official magazine of the ACT and supported by Lloyds TSB Corporate Markets. The awards celebrate the achievements of the corporate treasurer in successfully accessing the debt and equity markets on behalf of their company. All types of deal are considered and judged on the basis of demonstrating innovation and excellence in treasury, rather than on the size of the deal. The Treasury Team of the Year awards recognise the teams in different sizes of corporates that stood out most across the different aspects of treasury, including cash management, risk, corporate finance, treasury operations and corporate governance. Previous winners of the Deals of the Year Awards include: Arsenal FC, Bayer, Land Securities, NXP Semiconductors, Rexam and Tesco.
